Embracing the Evolution of Work: Finding Balance in Remote Collaboration

The Zoom boom during COVID was a game-changer, connecting us in challenging times and providing opportunities to keep working when many businesses paused. It's given me a work-life balance I never knew I could have.

Living in a rural BC town, remote work opened doors to environmental and justice-based careers aligned with my values. It allows me to indulge in passions like biking and running instead of commuting. The flexibility it offers has been a game-changer, empowering me to structure my day in a way that maximizes productivity without sacrificing precious time with loved ones. I cherish remote work's flexibility, but in-person moments with colleagues hold unmatched value. There's something about being in the same physical space as your colleagues, sharing ideas, and fostering connections.

Recently, I met my Naqsmist colleagues in Vancouver on a mission close to my heart - ending sexualized violence in post-secondary institutions. The synergy that came from being in the same room, bouncing ideas off each other, was unparalleled. Similarly, my collaboration with Gwen Bridge Consulting on rebranding and strategy development reinforced the significance of face-to-face collaboration.

In a world where remote work has become the norm, I'm grateful for the moments when we can come together physically, exchange ideas, and drive meaningful change. These experiences remind me of the power of human connection and reaffirm the importance of fostering strong relationships, both personally and professionally. Here's to embracing the new normal, finding balance, and cherishing the invaluable moments of togetherness.
