Changing Climate Policy in BC

The case study I wrote with colleagues at Naqsmist, titled “Ceremony is for Us, for Mother Earth”, is now live. This work presents a case for decolonizing climate policy through ceremony based on research, collective experiences, and the findings from the B.C. Assembly of First Nations Spiritual Knowledge Keepers Gathering on Climate Change. Our work is part of the Canadian Climate Institute’s annual Indigenous Perspectives series; “a partnership program with the Centre for Indigenous Environmental Resources that aims to amplify the voices and expertise of Indigenous researchers, Knowledge Holders, and writers in the climate policy space”. Every year, they publish a series of case studies and host a roundtable, attended by government, industry, non-profits, academics, and community members across Canada. The roundtable is on June 20 - sign up here!
