Analyzing Municipal Long-Range Planning for Reconciliation in British Columbia

Excited to share that my research with Dr Andreanne Doyon, RRP, MCIP and Anwen Rees has been featured in the latest issue of Plan Canada, published by the Canadian Institute of Planners!

Our article, Analyzing Municipal Long-Range Planning for Reconciliation in British Columbia, explores the municipalities play in advancing reconciliation. Through an examination of all municipal Official Community Plans in BC, we identified how municipalities can lead reconciliation efforts within their jurisdictional authority using the tools they already have. We also put forward stand-out examples of municipalities already doing this work.

We hope our findings inspire planners to leverage existing tools and strategies to support reconciliation. Grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such an important conversation—one that is vital to the future of planning in Canada.
